Mayfair Bible Church

Located close to Flint in the small town of Flushing, Michigan, Mayfair Bible Church (MBC) grew from a neighborhood ministry in 1929 to an incorporated church in 1945. The church has had three pastors with two serving over 30 years each. The current lead pastor (since 1983) has led the church to maintain a strong commitment to expository teaching and preaching, dispensational theology, excellence in Christian music, a vibrant ministry to youth, and spiritual growth for our members. In addition, the church is staffed with a pastor of worship ministries and a pastor of student ministries. Ministry oversight is provided by an Official Board that consists of Elders and Deacons.

The stability of ministry at Mayfair has resulted in a congregation with deep Biblical knowledge; however, many are not using their spiritual gifts to benefit the body. Mayfair struggles with the ability to reach the community with the love of Christ but desires to be more outwardly focused.  Due to aging of the membership and a variety of other reasons the average attendance has decreased over the last few years.  Nevertheless, the core of the congregation is stable and would love to see growth and outreach to the surrounding area. The people will respond to leadership and we are looking for someone who has a balance of Bible depth and evangelistic spirit.

Mayfair Bible church is seeking a Lead Pastor who will:

  • First and foremost, have a passion for the inerrancy and sufficiency of the Word of God;
  • Be a continual learner, a strong leader, a gifted encourager who makes challenging applications through his preaching and teaching;
  • Have a passion for souls that is evidenced by his preaching and his life, have a heart for missions and preferably some cross cultural experience, have an effective ministry to Millennials and practice a Christ-like servant style of leadership;
  • Agree with Mayfair’s doctrinal statement, constitution and agree with the church’s vision, mission statements and core values, although the church leadership is willing to consider updates to these documents under his leadership;
  • Have the full support of his family, a wife who is involved in his ministry, and a family that exhibits a love for the Lord. His family life will be an example for church families;
  • Have a seminary degree and will have served at least five years on a pastoral team. We expect him to know his spiritual gifts and strengths and be able to delegate or staff his weaknesses. He must build a team attitude and encourage his staff to be creative in their respective ministries;

Corporate worship is an essential part of the “body life” of MBC. We utilize a multi-generational blend of worship music that makes use of choir, praise team, and an orchestra with rhythm instruments.

MBC's ministries include: men’s and women's Bible studies, Sunday school for all ages, AWANA, and small group ministries. Our passion for global outreach is evidenced by a strong emphasis on world missions.

Our vision states: “We seek to be a growing family of believers learning, loving and living the ‘WORD’ within our fellowship and community.”  The vision is supported by our mission:

  • Learn (Grow) Know God's word; Apply his truth
  • Love (Community) Inside, Serve the congregation; Outside, Serve our neighbors
  • Live (Discipleship) Seek to be like Christ; Accept personal responsibility [Inflow]; Invest in others [Outflow]
