Frank & Shawn Dvorak
Wycliffe
Ministry Information
Frank and Shawn were accepted as members of Wycliffe Bible Translators January 2004. The Dvorak Family will be going to Nigeria where Frank will be serving in Vernacular Media Services (VMS). VMS, through video and audio means, radio, drama, dance and story telling, brings the translated Word of God to people who are waiting for a written translation to be completed. For people groups that have no written language at all the work of VMS serves as a bridge, helping them to understand the Word of God and His love for them. VMS helps translators use culturally appropriate media tools like salt, making people thirsty for God’s Word.
Frank and Shawn are excited to see how God has uniquely prepared them for this ministry. It is humbling to be allowed to have part in a work that results in changed lives through translation of the Living Word of God into heart languages for every nation, tribe and people.
Field
Jos, Nigeria is the state capital of Plateau State and home to about two million people. It is situated on a plateau in central Nigeria, so it has a fairly moderate climate. A number of churches and missions have their headquarters in the city, which also houses the inter-mission school called Hillcrest. The Afizere and Berom poeple are indigenes of Jos, but there are many others from different language groups and parts of the country. There is a mix of Christian and moslem in the population.
